Intake & Exhaust Valves for Cummins ISB 6.7

Cummins ISB 6.7 Intake Valve

The intake valve plays a vital role in engine efficiency by allowing the air-fuel mixture into the combustion chamber. Our intake valves are manufactured from heat-resistant alloys to withstand the thermal demands of turbocharged diesel engines.

Key Features:

Compatible with ISB and QSB series
Precision-ground sealing surfaces
Heat-treated for long service life

Perfect for replacing worn or pitted valves during a head refresh or valve job.

Cummins ISB 6.7 Exhaust Valve

The exhaust valve removes combustion gases from the chamber and is subject to extreme heat. Our replacement exhaust valves include high-strength valve keepers and are engineered for durability in high-output diesel engines.

Benefits:

Includes valve keepers for easy installation
Resistant to heat-related deformation
Designed to restore OEM performance

Whether you’re addressing valve leakage or replacing components during a scheduled overhaul, these valves ensure long-lasting operation.

Valve Kits & Valve Seals

Cummins ISB 6.7 Exhaust Valve Kit

This comprehensive exhaust valve kit includes the valve and a stem seal. It’s a convenient solution for shops looking to streamline rebuilds with fewer individual parts to source.

Kit Contents:

Exhaust valve
Integrated stem seal

Reduces the chance of oil consumption issues caused by worn seals or improper installation.

Valve Stem Seals – Intake & Exhaust

Valve stem seals keep oil from seeping into the combustion chamber. Replacing them is crucial when rebuilding your cylinder head or replacing valves.

Intake Valve Seal – Maintains compression and prevents oil burn on intake strokes
Exhaust Valve Seal – Protects the exhaust port and turbo system from oil contamination

These seals are made from durable fluorocarbon materials capable of withstanding high engine temperatures and extended service intervals.

Cylinder Head Bolts for ISB 6.7

Cylinder head bolts secure the head to the engine block and must be torqued in a precise pattern to ensure proper sealing of the head gasket.

We offer two sizes of head bolts:

70mm Cylinder Head Bolt

Typically used for older or smaller displacement Cummins engines such as 4B, 4BT, 6B, and 6BT models.
Not typically used for ISB 6.7 but often purchased by fleet operators maintaining a mixed Cummins lineup.

131mm Cylinder Head Bolt

Correct fitment for Cummins ISB 6.7 cylinder heads
High-strength alloy bolts
Designed to meet factory torque-to-yield requirements

Note: Always replace head bolts during reinstallation. Reusing old bolts can lead to torque loss and head gasket failure.

Gaskets & Sealing Components

Upper Gasket Set for ISB 6.7

The upper gasket set includes the cylinder head gasket and all ancillary seals needed during a top-end rebuild or head replacement.

Included Components May Vary:

Cylinder head gasket
Valve cover gasket
Rocker box seals
Injector seals
EGR port seals (if applicable)
Thermostat housing gaskets

We offer sets compatible with both EGR-equipped and non-EGR configurations. Ensure the correct variant is selected based on your engine’s emissions system.

Valve Cover Gasket

This gasket seals the cylinder head and prevents oil from leaking out of the top of the engine. Our Cummins ISB 6.7 valve cover gaskets are molded to fit and resist heat deformation, making them ideal for marine and industrial applications with long duty cycles.

Valve Springs for Cummins ISB 6.7

Valve springs are responsible for closing the intake and exhaust valves with the correct amount of force to maintain proper engine timing and prevent valve float at high RPMs.

Highlights:

Designed for ISB, QSB, 4BT, and 6BT engines
Heat-treated steel construction
Ideal replacement during head rebuild or valve reseating

A weakened or cracked valve spring can result in misfires, reduced power, and eventually valve-to-piston contact.

Valve Seat Inserts

Valve seats are metal rings installed in the cylinder head to form a sealing surface for the valves.

Intake Valve Seat Insert

The intake seat is precision-machined and hardened for durability. It ensures consistent valve-to-seat contact and minimizes valve leakage.

Exhaust Valve Seat Insert

Exhaust valve seat inserts must endure high exhaust temperatures. Our exhaust seat inserts are engineered for long-term durability and tight sealing even in turbocharged applications.

Both insert types should be inspected during any cylinder head rebuild. If the seating surface is pitted, burned, or cracked, insert replacement is recommended.

Fuel System Compatibility

While not part of the head itself, components such as the fuel manifold connect closely with the head and injector ports in some configurations. These manifolds are available for earlier Cummins platforms and can be sourced as part of integrated system upgrades.

Temperature Sensors & Thermal Management

We also offer temperature switches compatible with Cummins ISB engines. These units typically thread into the engine block or cylinder head and help trigger alerts or system shutdowns in overheating scenarios.

Key Features:

Activation temperature: 205°F
1/2” NPT thread for broad compatibility
Suitable for use across Cummins, Detroit Diesel, and Caterpillar engines

Accurate temperature monitoring is critical to protecting head gaskets and preventing heat-related head warpage or cracking.

Common Reasons to Replace or Rebuild a Cylinder Head

Cylinder heads experience tremendous thermal and mechanical stress. Over time, cracks, warping, valve seat erosion, and corrosion can make replacement or rebuilding necessary. Typical symptoms include:

Loss of compression
Coolant in the oil or exhaust
Excessive white smoke
Overheating
Misfire or rough idle

In marine applications, saltwater exposure can accelerate external corrosion, while prolonged heat soak can lead to casting failures. Replacing the head with a new unit eliminates these risks and ensures longevity.

Expert Tips for Cylinder Head Replacement on ISB 6.7

Always use new head bolts. They are torque-to-yield and stretch during installation.
Torque in sequence. Use Cummins-recommended tightening sequence and torque values.
Check surface flatness. Even a new head must be installed on a clean, flat deck surface.
Flush cooling system. Prevent cross-contamination and protect the new head from scale buildup.
Inspect valve lash. Set valve lash after installation to ensure correct timing and operation.
