By maintaining proper oil temperature, the coolers help prevent thermal damage to bearings and reduce carbon buildup in oil passages. Routine inspection and replacement are essential in marine environments where corrosion can degrade cooler effectiveness.

Oil Cooler Gaskets and Seals

Diesel Pro Power stocks a full selection of oil cooler sealing components, including:

Oil cooler cover gaskets – Seals the top-side housing where oil flows into the cooler
O-rings for oil cooler cores – Ensures leak-free seating between cooler and block
Oil cooler housing gaskets – Critical for resealing after cooler service or replacement

These components are often overlooked during cooler servicing but are essential for preventing oil and coolant leaks. Replace gaskets and O-rings every time the cooler is removed to ensure system integrity.

Marine Zinc Anodes for Oil Coolers

To protect your oil cooler from internal corrosion in saltwater applications, Diesel Pro Power offers zinc anodes designed for Cummins marine engines.

Thread Size: 3/8” NPT brass plug
Zinc Length: 1 inch
Function: Sacrificial corrosion protection for fuel and oil cooler cores
Application: Marine-only systems

Installing fresh zincs as part of your regular maintenance routine extends the service life of your oil cooler and prevents damage from electrolysis.

Oil Filters and Related Tools

Spin-On Oil Filter for Cummins KTA19

Oil filtration is critical in removing contaminants that can degrade bearing surfaces and accelerate engine wear. Diesel Pro Power provides high-capacity spin-on oil filters compatible with the KTA19 platform.

Using the correct wrench ensures safe, damage-free removal and reduces service time during routine oil changes.

Oil Pan and Adapter Gaskets

Oil Pan Adapter Gasket

Diesel Pro Power offers a high-quality oil pan adapter gasket for the lower portion of the KTA19 crankcase. This gasket seals the interface between the oil pan and the block or pan adapter plate.

Material: High-temperature oil-resistant composite
Use Case: During oil pan removal, leak repair, or bottom-end rebuilds
Fitment: KTA19 and QSK19 compatible

Replacing this gasket is essential when resealing the lower crankcase after a crankshaft service, oil pump replacement, or pan cleaning.

Hand Hole Cover Gaskets

The hand hole covers located on the engine block allow internal inspection of the crankcase and connecting rods. Diesel Pro Power stocks the matching cover gaskets to reseal these inspection ports.

Function: Seals access holes to prevent oil leaks and contamination
Recommendation: Replace any time the hand hole cover is removed
Use Case: Crankshaft inspection, connecting rod bearing service

These small gaskets play a critical role in maintaining crankcase cleanliness and pressure balance.

Oil Pressure Monitoring Components

Oil Pressure Switches – Make/Break Configurations

Accurate oil pressure readings are vital for engine protection and early diagnostics. Diesel Pro Power carries a range of make/break pressure switches in 5, 10, 20, and 27 PSI ratings.

Use Case: Triggers alarms or shutdowns based on oil pressure threshold
Thread Type: 1/8” NPT for universal fit
Electrical Interface: Make/break function engages or disengages based on pressure
Compatible Engines: Cummins and Detroit Diesel platforms

These switches are commonly installed in marine engines, generator sets, and industrial units to prevent catastrophic engine failure due to oil pressure loss.

Gauges for Oil System Monitoring

Mechanical and Electric Oil Pressure Gauges

Diesel Pro Power offers a wide selection of oil pressure gauges to pair with your pressure switches or to monitor oil system performance independently.

Mechanical Gauges: Provide direct pressure readings without electrical input
Electric Gauges: Available in 12-volt and 24-volt configurations

Whether retrofitting a dashboard or building a custom engine panel, we offer gauges compatible with your existing sensors and pressure ranges.

Why Proper Oil System Maintenance Matters

The Cummins KTA19 is a high-output engine that depends on consistent lubrication and oil temperature control. Key functions of a properly maintained oil system include:

Lubrication of bearings, gears, and piston skirts
Oil-based piston cooling via jets beneath the pistons
Turbocharger lubrication and cooling
Hydraulic control of valve actuators (in certain versions)
Debris and particulate removal via filtration

Neglecting the oil system can lead to:

Premature bearing wear or failure
Crankshaft or camshaft scoring
Turbocharger damage
Overheating due to insufficient oil cooling
Severe oil leaks leading to rapid oil loss

Replacing worn components such as pumps, seals, gaskets, and filters at regular intervals is a cost-effective way to prevent catastrophic failures and extend engine service life.
