Fuel System Components for Cummins NT855 Engine

The Cummins NT855 is a workhorse in marine, industrial, and construction applications—operating under intense conditions that demand a high-performance, dependable fuel system. At Diesel Pro Power, we offer a comprehensive catalog of fuel pump parts and related components engineered specifically for the NT855 engine platform, as well as its close relatives such as the NH855, N14, and L10.

Our NT855 fuel system parts support precise fuel delivery, combustion efficiency, engine shutdown control, and contamination prevention—ensuring consistent engine performance across a range of environments.

Fuel Pump Gasket for Cummins NT855

The fuel pump gasket is a small but vital component that creates a reliable seal between the fuel pump and its mounting surface. In the NT855, this gasket prevents fuel and air leaks that can compromise engine performance or lead to hard-start conditions.

Applications: Compatible with Cummins NT855, NH855, L10, M11, and K Series engines.
Use case: Often replaced during fuel pump maintenance or after long-term vibration exposure.
Material: High-quality, fuel-resistant gasket material ensures durability even under extreme thermal cycling.

Fuel Pump Coupling for Cummins NT855

The fuel pump coupling is a mechanical link between the fuel pump and the engine’s drive system, typically connecting the pump to a camshaft or auxiliary drive. In the NT855, this component ensures the synchronization required for precise fuel injection timing.

Application compatibility: Used in Cummins NT855, N14, and related engines.
Failure prevention: Coupling wear can result in loss of pump drive and inconsistent injection—inspect regularly.
Replacement tip: Always inspect coupling wear during top-end rebuilds or when diagnosing fuel delivery issues.

Fuel Shutoff Solenoids – 12V and 24V Options

Fuel shutoff solenoids are critical safety and control components in diesel engines, enabling remote shutdown during emergencies or key-off operation. We offer both 12-volt and 24-volt solenoids for NT855 setups, supporting various vessel and machinery electrical systems.

12V Fuel Shutoff Solenoid

Common in: Light-duty marine systems or auxiliary engines.
Connection type: Single-pole design for simple wiring configurations.
Function: De-energized to shut off fuel flow—essential for safe engine stop.

24V Fuel Shutoff Solenoid

Common in: Commercial marine and industrial installations with 24-volt systems.
Connection type: Single-pole or 2-stud versions available.
Functionality: Controlled shutdown capability in larger electrical systems with fail-safe redundancy.

Fuel Solenoids for NT855 and NH855 Engines

Fuel solenoids are used for engine shutdown systems or remote-controlled fuel cutoff valves. These solenoids are engineered for high durability, vibration resistance, and electrical reliability.

24V Solenoid Options:

Available in both single-pole and dual-pole configurations.
Fits NT855, NH855, ISX, QSX, N14, M11, L10, and ISM platforms.
Optimized for quick actuation and long service life.

Seal Compatibility: Use rectangular seal rings to properly mount and seal solenoids—essential for preventing fuel leaks and ensuring safe operation.

Rectangular Seal Rings for Fuel Solenoids

Every solenoid installation requires fuel-compatible sealing components. Our rectangular seal rings are designed for tight tolerances and long-term performance in fuel environments.

Fits: NT855, NH855, QSK, ISL, ISM, and QSM engines.
Used in: Fuel shutoff solenoids and shutdown valve assemblies.
Install note: Two seals are required per solenoid—always replace both during service.

Cummins Fuel Filters for NT855

Fuel filtration is the first line of defense against injector damage, fuel pump wear, and overall system contamination. Our catalog includes multiple Cummins fuel filter options for NT855 engines with varying specifications to fit your filtration requirements.

Standard Fuel Filters

Thread size: M16 x 1.5"
Available in multiple diameters and heights for compatibility with OEM filter heads.
Efficient removal of particulates and water for extended injector and pump life.

Fuel Filters with Water Separator

Integrated water separation design to protect injection components from water contamination.
Available in multiple thread types and configurations.
Highly recommended for marine and tropical environments.

Racor Fuel and Water Separator Filters

In addition to Cummins OEM filters, we also offer Racor replacement filters trusted across marine industries for advanced fuel-water separation and filtration.

Filter Assemblies

500, 900, and 1000 series assemblies available.
Supplied with housing, element, and drain options.
Designed for inline filtration and water removal before fuel reaches injection system.

Replacement Elements

2010 Series: Available in 2-micron (brown top) and 30-micron (red top) versions.
2040 Series: Direct fit for Racor 900 units.
2020 Series: Fits Racor 1000 systems, ideal for high-flow marine diesel applications.
Micron Ratings:

2 Micron: Maximum protection—ideal for final-stage filtration.
30 Micron: Pre-filter level—removes large debris and water droplets.

Fuel Filter Removal Tools

Proper removal and replacement of fuel filters is essential for maintenance. Our fuel filter wrench tool supports filter diameters ranging from 3-7/16" to 3-3/4", making it compatible with most Cummins and Detroit Diesel filter housings.

Non-slip grip
Durable steel construction
Essential for fleet maintenance kits

Marine Fuel System Corrosion Protection: Zinc Anodes

The NT855 marine variant often includes fuel and oil cooler housings that are vulnerable to saltwater corrosion. To protect against electrolysis and rust:

Use zinc anodes designed for installation into fuel cooler fittings.
Compatible with NPT 3/8” threads and includes brass plugs.
Replace zinc regularly during routine oil changes or cooler inspections.

Pressure Switches for NT855 Fuel & Oil Systems

Pressure switches are vital in fuel priming, low-pressure shutoff, and gauge-based alerting systems. These are available in several pressure thresholds:

5 PSI make/break: Used for fuel priming indicators.
10 PSI make/break: Alerts for low fuel pressure.
20 PSI make/break: Often tied to alarm modules or control panels.
27 PSI make/break: Used in oil-pressure sensing or high-pressure fuel lines.

All switches feature 1/8 NPT threading, compatible with standard Cummins and Detroit Diesel ports.

Gauges for Fuel Pressure Monitoring

A complete fuel system isn’t just about flow—it’s about visibility. Monitoring fuel pressure can prevent damage and optimize performance.

Mechanical Gauges: Reliable and easy to install with no external power source required.
Electric Gauges (12V & 24V): Perfect for marine and industrial setups with panel displays.
Gauges with Alarm Function: Ideal for unmanned engine rooms or fleet alert systems.

Why Proper Fuel System Maintenance Matters on NT855 Engines

The Cummins NT855 relies heavily on a balanced and uninterrupted fuel supply. From high-output marine engines to generator sets, an issue in the fuel system can trigger power loss, misfires, or hard starts. That’s why using OEM-compatible fuel system parts is essential to engine longevity.

Symptoms of fuel system issues include:

Difficulty starting the engine
Rough idling or surging
Black smoke or low power
Engine stalling under load

Replacing aging gaskets, solenoids, couplings, and filters ensures your NT855 remains clean-burning, efficient, and reliable.
